Fabrication And Chareactreization Of Particulate Carbon Composites
L.M.Manocha , Parul Sheth and Chetan Sheth
Abstract :
Particulate composite consist of particles immersed in matrices such as alloys and ceramics. They are usually isotropic because the particles are added randomly. Particulate composites have advantages such as improved strength, increased operating temperature, oxidation resistance, etc. Composite samples were prepared to evaluate the effect on various properties of the samples heat treated at 1000oC. Optical microscopy was used to study the distribution of black, fly ash and coke particles in the carbon matrix and to observe other parameters. It shows that the reinforcing particles are well distributed in the carbon matrix and also exhibited good bonding between the matrix and reinforcing particles. Mechanical structural and physical properties of the composites were obtained.
